The Queenstown Medical Centre (QMC) has made a very generous donation of $5000 per annum to the Pat Farry Rural Health Education Trust. Dr. Richard Macharg, CEO of the QMC, had this to say about the Trust and their donation:

“Queenstown Medical Centre has great pride in supporting the aims of the Pat Farry Health Education Trust set up in commemeration of their original doctor, “founding father” and inspirational mentor. Pat Farry’s vision of patient-centred care with passion and compassion remains the touchstone for our organisation despite its huge growth paralleling that of Queenstown. Again, despite such growth, Queenstown remains distant from secondary and tertiary care and Pat’s dedication to the advancement of rural medicine is his legacy to New Zealand. Pat’s other love and passion in medicine, that of undergraduate education and the firing of enthusiasm amongst medical students and young doctors for careers in general practice, particularly in rural areas makes a “scholarship” a logical way for us to perpetuate his legacy. Accordingly Queenstown Medical Centre Ltd has pledged the sum of $5000 per annum to be administered by the Pat Farry Health Education Trust for the support of a medical student in Queenstown undergoing rural medical immersion training – a programme entirely conceived and enabled by Pat.”

From all here at the Pat Farry Rural Health Education Trust, we would like to pass on a enormous thank you to the Queenstown Medical Centre for there amazing pledge of support.
