Pat believed it was very important that those delivering rural health be given the opportunity to learn from those in other parts of the world and then bring that knowledge back to enrich the local community.
With this in mind the Pat Farry Rural Health Education Trust will enable people in the health care sector to spend time in innovative overseas units. Grants and scholarships will be provided to individuals and groups seeking continuing education or research in Rural Health both at home and overseas.
The Trust, in association with the Queenstown Medical Centre, is delighted to announce their first scholarship has been awarded to Wakatipu-based students Matt Restieaux, Thomas Kuperus and James Heaton. These students will have the opportunity this year of travelling to Monash University in Australia for two weeks of rural health studies.
